Hotels in Andalusia had profitable summer
Hotels in Spain, including Andalusia in summer 2010 felt the first signs of defeating the crisis

Hotels in Andalusia were successful during summer 2010. Tourist industry of the region over the past peak season experienced the increase in hotel registrations. The total number of 11329245 registrations in the cities and resorts in Andalusia, including the famous Seville, Cordoba, Granada and the Costa del Sol, for 156,000 registrations outnumbered the summer of 2009. Such data is provided by the portal opinionmalaga.com

Main driving force that enabled hotel industry in Andalusia to grow was domestic tourism. The Spanish tourists were able to compensate the decline in traditional Andalusian hotel customers - the Germans and the British.

For Andalusia growth in the hotel segment confirmed predictions of Spanish politicians and economists, who called the tourism sector one of the first industries to overcome the effects of global crisis.

According to the National Statistics Institute, in July and August in Andalusia were recorded 11,173,239 check-ins. The number of reservations made by the Spaniards was 7,469,485, it is an increase of 2% above last year's figure. Among the negative trends in the tourism industry is reducing of foreign tourist inflow. 1,043,756 is the number of foreigners visiting Andalusia in August 2010 according to the National Statistical Institute. The reduction in August 2009 was 4,5%.
