Resorts of Costa del Sol, the main resort coast of Andalusia, are seeking new ways to attract tourists to its beaches. Among the latest innovations that will soon be available at such resorts as Torremolinos, Benalmadena and Fuengirola are "childfree" hotels or "hotels without children."
Voluntary childlessness or childfree - this movement is being actively developed in many countries around the world. Its main idea is a conscious refusal to have kids. The industry that formed around the childfree idea now goes beyond simple ideology and becomes the actual business concept.
Hotels for adults, opening of hotels "free from children" more often appears on the agenda of the Spanish hoteliers. Thus, Costa del Sol is going to be soon one of the centers of the hotel business for childless travelers.
In this case, according to Antonio Aranda, head of the Association of Hoteliers of the Costa del Sol, new childfree hotels that will be created at the resorts of the region do not suggest a ban on children. They are rather positioning their services as an exclusive vacation for adults.
It is worth noting that anyway hotels in Andalusia cannot close their rooms for the kids. Refusal of receiving people with children in Spain is prohibited by the law.
Nevertheless, the law allows hotel positioning as "childfree". It is used, for example, by Riviera hotel in Benalmádena, which sells nearly all its rooms to two European travel agents under the brand name "for adults only."
And not just individual hoteliers, but the whole hotel chains plan to promote their services as "childfree hotels". For example, well-known Spanish hotel chain H10 intends to position one of its hotels - H10 Andalucia Plaza at the resort of Puerto Banus - as a resort for adults.
