Creators of the Larry Crown film received an unexpected PR support from the Spanish authorities. As it turned out, the movie poster can be more attractive for the viewers, if it is creatively promoted by the representatives of the official structures, in particular, the Transport Department of Spain.
On the poster the main characters played by Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts are riding a scooter. Riding a scooter in Spain is not yet a crime. However, the fact that Hanks’ and Roberts’ characters are shown on the poster without helmets, went beyond the law.
Since 1985 Spain has strict laws which, inter alia, prohibit all forms of advertising, which uses unsafe driving as an attractive image. In the end it turned out that the poster of the Larry Crown as an attractive image demonstrates a deliberate disregard of safety measures. For example, from dozens of scooter drivers, which are depicted on the poster, without helmets are only two - the characters of Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts. As a result, the company Tripictures, which distributes the film in Spain, was punished by a fine for 30 000 Euros.
Cinemania website quotes one of the representatives of the Tripictures, which says that the original letter from the Transport Department was sought to be a joke. He also notes that the company for the first time violates social norms of behavior. "We did not expect such reaction, even when released The Texas Chainsaw Massacre to the Spanish market" - says the company’s representative.
It should be noted that for the representatives of the world show business in Spain is not the first precedent. For example, last year was fined Shakira, who in one of her clips traveled on the roads in Barcelona without the protective helmet.
