Working at home saves fuel in Spain

Hot holidays in Andalusia, Malaga, on the Costa del Sol and in the vicinity of Seville, are reaching its peak. However, the editorial office of privet-andalusia.ru decided to distract from the tourism theme and to pay attention to work. And they managed to discover several surprising facts.

It was calculated how much fuel could be saved in Spain if at least 40% of the current workforce will change offices for working at home.

At the present in Spain there are about 26% of employees working at home, while the average European figure is 35%. At the same time at least 8% of Spaniards spend one of the five working days at home. These data were published in a study conducted by the Masfamilia fund.

Many companies in Spain have already appreciated the advantage of home-based work. According to some personnel recruiting experts, home furnishing stimulates creativity, reduces stress and increases motivation. At present more than 16% of Spanish companies offer their employees the possibility of full or partial transition to the domestic work. At the same time last year's figure of 10% indicates that the remote work in Spain is currently becoming a popular economic trend.

Experts say that after proper restructuring about 40% of the 10 millions of Spanish employees could soon shift to the home-based work. And here, in addition to the attractive motivational component and convenience for the employee, there is one more significant benefit - fuel economy.

Due to the fact that the employees do not have to go to work by public or private transport will reduced fuel consumption by 583 million liters per year. In addition, emissions of carbon dioxide will decrease by 2 million tons.

Nevertheless, it is unclear how long it will take the Spanish companies to develop mechanisms for shifting to working at home. However, obvious benefits can allow counting on the fact that it will happen soon enough. Spain, which is in hard economic position, tries to reduce costs to the minimum. And lowering the costs for equipment and transportation can be very useful for the country.
