La Redondela: Beach, Nature and Cultural Heritage

Beach and Forest

La Playa de La Redondela is 1,220 metres long and 80 metres wide. It includes dunes and pine trees. Reed mats placed end to end protect against blowing sand, and a wooden walkway extends to the middle of the beach. The facilities at the Playa include toilets, showers and foot-washing stations. There are also litter bins, a cleaning service and a children's area.

The La Redondela recreation area is located in the “Dunas de Isla Cristina” public forest. The area is wooded. The recreation area has basic facilities, but no barbecue areas. Access for motor vehicles is restricted to protect the ecosystem. From La Redondela, the recreation area can be reached via the H-3400 towards Isla Cristina.

Nature and Trails

The Sendero Laguna del Prado begins on the outskirts of La Redondela at Calle de la Cerquilla and leads to the former railway station. The one-way route is approximately 1,500 metres long and takes about 20 minutes. The Laguna del Prado is a freshwater wetland in a depression above the Arroyo del Prado. The trail has viewpoints offering wide panoramas. It shows how the natural landscape has changed through the use of the area.

The Camino Natural Vía Verde del Litoral leads to the former stop at La Redondela. The stop has now been converted into a sports centre. In La Redondela, pedal boats, paddleboards, jet skis, kayaks and banana boats are available for rent.

During the procession, the Virgen de la Esperanza and the infant Jesus proceed separately; they meet at the intersection of Santa María and Real streets.
