Five boats with illegal immigrants were intercepted by the Coastguard and Guardia Civil of Almeria province on 5 April.
At first, two boats with 28 adults were detected by ‘Rio Jiloca’, a vessel of the Guardia Civil, on Sunday evening. All of them were delivered to Carboneras port. After a time, a Coastguard’s vessel ‘Salvamar Algenib’ detained another two boats which were caring 24 illegals. However, not all boats were caught by the guards at the sea on that Sunday: one boat with 16 Africans reached the shore of Costa Almeria, although all of these illegal immigrants were arrested.
Nobody of the immigrants has suffered. All the detained are in good health.
Spain is a country with one the largest number of illegal immigrants in the world. According to the statistics of INE, the Spanish National Statistics Institute, an arrival of immigrants amounted at least 920,000 people in 2007. The number of immigrants in Spain grows every year drastically. The quantity of people crossed to Spain came to 10 per cent of whole Spanish population in the beginning of 2008. Regardless of the fact that the government has tried to fix the problem for several times, their attempts haven’t given any appreciable result yet.
