An unusual holiday, Fried Fish Day, is being held in Torremolinos, a resort city located on the southern shore of Andalusia. Dia del Pescaito, that is from Spanish means Fried Fish Day, is held in Torremolinos in 11 June annually.
During the holiday, that is taking place on La Carihuela beach in 2009, visitors of Torremolinos will have a great opportunity to taste delicious dishes made from fresh seafood. What is really noteworthy is that all the dishes are being offered for free. Therefore, tourists can enjoy traditional Andalusian food right on the beach instead of visiting fish restaurants in the center of the town. In addition, chilled beer and other drinks will be offered to participants of Fried Fish Day.
Torremolinos is a satellite town of Malaga, the capital of famous Spanish resort area Costa del Sol located on the Mediterranean shore of Andalusia. The town has transformed from a small fishing village into a popular tourist destination. However, unique receipts of preparing dishes from seafood have been saved by Torremolinos’ citizens.
Those who so desire to taste the dishes absolutely free of charge should go to La Carihuela beach at 13.00 on Thursday, 11 June.
